SUMMER FUN

  • The National Capital Trolley Museum offers children’s programming on Thursdays and Fridays from 15 June thru 15 August.
  • Thursday programs feature story telling and crafts in two sessions, at 11:30 am and noon.
  • Friday programs feature a video at 12:10 pm.
  • Take a ride on the trolley!
  • Summer Operating Hours
    • Thursdays and Fridays, 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, June 15 to August 15.
    • Saturdays and Sundays, 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm.

BIRTHDAY PARTIES

  • For just $150* your party of up to 45 people can enjoy admission to the museum plus one exclusive street car ride on a vintage trolley through Northwest Branch Park on any Saturday or Sunday during regular museum hours, January thru November (not available in December). We provide the trolley, you provide the guests!
  • You may schedule your private car for 12:45, 1:45, 2:45, or 3:45 PM.
  • An indoor Party Room is available for 2 hours for $100* on Saturdays and Sundays. The Party Room must be cleaned and vacated by the end of your rental period.
  • If you rent the Party Room without a street car charter, regular admission rates prevail.
  • All food and beverages must be brought in or delivered. There are no kitchen facilities or vending machines on site.
  • * Car charters and party room rentals must be booked and paid for no later than two weeks prior to the event. To make inquiries or arrangements contact Joanie Pinson at 301-384-6352 (extension 103) or at educator@dctrolley.org.

PLEASE NOTE -
The Museum is located in Northwest Branch Park and Montgomery County Park regulations apply.
  • Currently, there is no picnic area available on the grounds; picnic facilities are available at Layhill Park, 1 mile north of the intersection of Layhill Road and Bonifant Road.
  • No eating or drinking is permitted in the Museum or on the street cars except in the Party Room; smoking is not permitted anywhere in the Museum or on the street cars.
  • Alcoholic beverages may not consumed on the property.
  • All pets must be kept on a leash and you must clean up after your pet. Pets are not permitted in the Museum or on the street cars.

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES

Tilly the Trolley Story Time
  • On weekdays when schools are closed for holidays or teachers’ meetings the Museum sponsors programs for children in the Primary grades featuring stories, crafts and videos. Be sure to check the Operations Schedule [or the list of Upcoming Events] to confirm dates and times.
