Restoration Update: Capital Transit PCC #1430
Exciting progress continues on the cosmetic restoration of Capital Transit PCC #1430 at the National Capital Trolley Museum!
This project is being led by Anthony and Andrew Vo, with guidance from Harry Donahue of the Baltimore Streetcar Museum. Their goal is to return the car to a beautiful display condition through a comprehensive cosmetic restoration.
Work currently underway includes:
Painting the interior and underframes
Reupholstering the passenger seats
Preparing the car to receive its newly restored PCC trucks once the underframe work is complete
We're especially excited for the day when the restored trucks can be placed back under the car, which is a major milestone in bringing 1430 back together.
As part of this restoration, we're asking for your help to complete the seat reupholstering project. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we've already raised more than $4,600 toward this effort. We now need an additional $4,000 to finish restoring the seats and completing this important phase of the project.
